We are going LIVE, online! Our dancers have worked so hard up to this point, we aren’t going to let a lockdown keep us from dancing! Teachers are looking forward to seeing and working with their dancer’s online. They will continue to provide quality lessons including choreography for their competitive groups and building technique and strength during stretch, ballet, acro and conditioning classes. Please see the attachment for your dancers updated online class schedule, which will start this Friday, November 27. Many class times have changed, and some classes have been combined. Dancers will be receiving the same amount of weekly class time through Zoom. An email will be sent tomorrow with instructions to access your classes. We have changed some events and venues but our goal of getting dancers on stage is stronger than ever. We will keep you updated on an ongoing basis.
Competition Formats and Adjustments – As Government guidelines and regulations change, there is potential that competition formats may also change. Options could include a limited audience size, virtual events, or a change of date. We are hopeful competitions will run as usual, but we may need to adjust as necessary.
There are also questions about masks, dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces, etc. The answers to these questions will be made available closer to the competition dates as they will have to be responsive to regulations at that time. We have been in contact with each competition and can assure families that organizers are planning with the utmost regard for dancer safety. Group Competition Credits 2020 and Competition Charges 2021 - With the change of venues, prices have changed slightly. We have posted 2020 CREDITS (100%) and the NEW 2021 Competition Charges to your accounts. Please find attached documents for Competition Fees 2019-20 AND Competition Fees 2020-21. You can check your account before we process the amounts on November 15th. If a Competition Gets Cancelled in 2021 due to Covid-19 – Our credits with SHYANN, SUNDANCE, DREAM TEAM will continue to 2022. View Dance Challenge will refund less an SBS administration fee. ARTIST EMERGE is a Virtual Competition. What If Your 2020 Credits are more than 2021 Charges? This scenario would happen if you have dropped a class and did not replace it with another. If you have more competition credits than you do charges for this season, you would have a credit competition fee balance. This balance is on our records. Please choose one of the following options and email info@stepbystepdance.ca #1. Carry 100% Competition Credit to 2022 competition season. OR #2. With the additional work and costs a 20% administration Fee will be applied leaving you with an 80% refund which can be applied to your account which can be used towards tuition, costume costs, or other. SBS Team 2019-2020 Competition Fees 2020-2021 Competition Fees 2020-2021 Group Competition and Costume Information 2021-21 Dancers and their families have continued to do an excellent job wearing their masks in classes and following protocols to help keep everyone safe and our classes running smoothly. As a reminder, please visit this link frequently to stay up to date with the newest symptoms and instructions. Do not bring your dancer to the studio if they are displaying any of the listed symptoms, if you are waiting for covid-19 test results, or if your family has been in close contact with a positive covid-19 case.
All dancers are expected to wear appropriate, fitted dance attire to classes. Teachers prefer bodysuits and tights for most classes, always with hair pulled back. For ballet, dancers must have their hair in a neat bun. Competition Fees Competitions have been hard at work to secure venues and come up with strategic plans that help to ensure dancer safety. As a reminder, competition fees will be charged to your account Nov 15. Competition credits from 2020 will be posted to your accounts Nov 15 as well. Parking Lot Safety With the use of exterior entrances, the parking lot at Step By Step, as well as the street, are even busier than normal.
Late Pick Ups or Arrivals As always, dancers and families are encouraged to be on time for dance classes. With the cooler weather and darker evenings upon us, dancers whose parents are late should go to the front lobby to wait inside until their ride arrives. Dancers should not wait outside alone for their ride. Dancers that arrive late should knock loudly on their studio door to let their teacher know they are waiting. Outdoor Gear Hangers for winter jackets will be available in each studio starting soon. Dancers should also do their best to wear footwear that is quick to slip on and off. DPA Fundraisers The Dance Parents Association is excited to offer 2 new fundraisers. Both would make fantastic Christmas gifts and will be picked up from the studio in December (date tba).
