Another day of Sun and a few solos that required changes have been update on the online schedule. Reminder that dancers must arrive an hour before their block begins, ready to go in costume with hair and make up done. Dancer Entrance is at the front of the facility. Dancers are to be picked up after their adjudication from the back of the building at the loading dock. See you on Monday at the Dow Centre! Hello Step by Step Families After a very unique year of dance we are ready to offer a modified Dance Photography Program. Icabod Productions and Step by Step are pleased to be able to offer individual and sibling dance portraits next week. We are happy to accommodate any number of costume changes and poses with no obligation to order. All images will be uploaded to our web site for you to view and order at your convenience. **As a special offer for any groups that we have over 80% of the groups booking individual portraits we will also create a virtual group photos and make it available for you to order. We are so excited for Dance Jam 2021! AUDIENCE AND LIVE STREAM There will be an audience of 140 people allowed to watch, as well as live stream. Tickets for both will be sold through Ticketpro. Only 2 tickets per dancer can be purchased for a session. * · $9.50 live audience * · $5.50 live stream The live stream is one camera from the back of the audience. Online live stream is sold by the DAY, after you purchase, you will receive an email with links to the different sessions. These links are usable as a live stream or you can watch after the session, they will remain active to watch until the end of the Festival which will be approx. 10pm on June 29th 2021 Live in-person viewing is sold by SESSION. SBS has colour coded our sessions, pink, blue and yellow on the competition schedule. We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets IN ADVANCE online or via the phone, as there are limited seating options and the Box Office may be busy when you arrive. Tickets for both will go on sale through Ticketpro on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23 AT 1:00 PM. GENERAL * · Attached is a map of entrances and exits for the dancers and audience. * · Social distancing rules will be in place in all public areas. * · Masks are mandatory in all areas, except on the stage where they are optional. * · No food or drink in the theatre, soccer field or dressing rooms. * · Studios are required to clean up after their use (make sure all belongings are taken – as the Shell theatre will sterilize) BUILDING ENTRANCE AND EXIT POINTS * · The audience will enter through the main doors of the theatre. * · Dancers will enter through the Banquet Hall door. * · Dancers will exit through the Loading Dock doors where parents can meet them. * · A map is attached. PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO * · Borsellino Photography has sent an email regarding the photography packages she is offering. Incredible pictures at a great price! Her action shots are amazing. Please connect with her directly if you have any questions. * · Icabod Productions will be videoing the competition. You will receive an email regarding the video packages and how to order. Please contact Peter directly at crane@icabod.ca or 780.619.4266 if you have any questions. DANCERS * · Have your dancer dressed in their first costume, make up and hair done. Dressing rooms will be available. Social distancing and masking is required. * · Make sure that costumes are clearly marked for each dance and with shoes labelled. Have everything together. Teacher Assistants are helping with costume changes. * . Dancers should be wearing a beige mask. * . Dancers will not exit until after adjudication and their block is completed – see schedule for block lengths. * . SBS representatives will escort your dancer to the Loading Dock for pick up. * . Soloists can take their mask off for performance but must wear them backstage. ADJUDICATION * · Approximately every 45 minutes an on-stage adjudication will take place. Dancers are to be masked for adjudication. * · Groups: One member of a group will be on stage for adjudication. A bag of medals will be given to distribute to the dancers in the group. All dancers age 6 and up (Jr. 1 and up) are competing this weekend at the Expo Centre. Hair and make up will be the same for all dancers, in all genres. A nude/skin coloured mask is required for all dancers. Female dancers will also wear rhinestone earrings. Earrings and lashes are for sale at the studio, see the front desk. Hair - High top knot bun. Make sure hair is secure! See picture below for reference. Make up - Foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner and lashes. See picture below for reference. Final schedules are coming as soon as we hear from the competition organizers. Our studio block for Shy Ann Dance Festival will take place on Saturday, June 19th. Please book the whole day as routines will take place throughout the day. You will not be able to come into the Expo with your dancer. An SBS representative will be there to help and direct. Mandatory rehearsals (without costume) will be held at the studio Friday, June 18th from 5 – 7 pm. We will be rehearsing in your studio block that you will be competing in on Saturday. This will give your dancer an opportunity to perform in front of their peers. The following routines will be rehearsing on Friday. Your dancer will stay for the entire time. We are so excited to get the dancers back to classes in person, in the studio and to have them hit the stage! Please read through this entire email for important information regarding classes and competitions. Classes - Our new indoor schedule starts June 10th and ends on June 24. Please see the new schedule attached. Most classes are back to running on their original scheduled days of the week, pre-lock down. Preschool Classes - We have 2 preschool drop-in classes this Saturday, June 12: 9:30-10:15 for age 3-4, and 10:15-11:00 for age 5-6. Click here to login to your accounts and sign up! You will find these classes under the “June Drop-ins” tab. Costumes - Are being handed out to dancers during class. Your account has been charged accordingly as of May 31, 2021. Please have your dancer try them on as soon as they get home and let us know immediately if there is a problem. Competitions - All dancers age 6 and up are in 2 competitions: 1. June 17-20, Shyanne Dance Festival, Edmonton Expo Center. Studio block time tbd. 2. June 25-29, Dance Jam, Dow Centre Fort Saskatchewan. SBS has a studio block on June 28 (solos and duets might be on the weekend.) We will be entering all extra choreography in 2 competitions unless you’ve withdrawn them specifically by emailing info@stepbystepdance.ca before June 10th. No withdrawal, credits, or refunds after June 10. Existing competition credits will be applied. Any remaining credits will be carried to the 2021-2022 season. Hair, Make up and Tights for Performance Masks: All dancers will need a nude/skin toned coloured mask for their performances. No lipstick! (And All That Jazz has limited quantity.) Make-up: Foundation, eyeshadow, eye liner and lashes. Hair: High top knot bun. Earrings: Rhinstone earrings required for all female dancers in all groups, the bigger the better! Eyelashes and earrings are on sale at the studio front desk studio for $15. Tights: Ballet - light pink. Jazz/Tap - Capezio Caramel (beige.) Pictures - Icabod Productions will be at the studio June 29th and 30th to take individual dance pictures. Watch for an email with more information regarding picture packages, pricing and sign up. July/August We have decided to not participate in any summer competitions in July or August. Drop-in classes and summer camps will be offered. Summer School 2021 - Registration coming soon!
